Environmental construct is the effect the environment has had on a person’s writing construct. This can highly influence a person’s writing construct depending on what is going on around the writer and how they feel in their situation. But it is so much more than just that, you have to take in your surroundings and make it something other than just being in it. Some people may find it easier to write in school, while others find it easier to write in open, calm and relaxing places. I on one hand find the outdoors to be an amazing place to write.
Most of the writing I did- I did when I was in school. I never really felt like I was expressing myself the way I wanted when I wrote for any of my English teachers though. They always wanted a properly structured, grammatically correct paper like any essay should be. My English 4 professor would take that too seriously, he would not even look at the paper if it did not have five proper paragraphs that were indented, and he would stop reading if there were any grammatical mistakes in the paper. School is a tense place where I feel I am stressing on anything but the quality of my paper, whereas writing anywhere else was a perfectly fine place to write. Writing for English class and writing for my Theatre class were two totally different experiences. My theatre teacher asked us to write a paper about our lives but she gave no length requirement, she told us to write from the heart, to put our opinions in our paper and just to write what we felt. I have never been given an assignment where I could write whatever I wanted in the way that I wanted with absolutely no restrictions. I ended up sitting outside the Student Union writing this paper. The environment was so calm and I felt so relaxed and free out there and it reflected in my theatre writing. Being around my friends also inspires my writing. When I write just to be writing, I like being around my friends or different people. They give me inspiration for my different characters and the situations the characters are in. Being around the people I know calm me when I am writing because I know if I get stuck I can always just turn around and ask them for help or ideas. Being who they are, they will be more than willing to help and just help make a positive environment when I am totally stressing out.
